**In-Presence Focusing**, particularly in the context of somatic coaching, is a process that emphasizes being fully present with one's bodily sensations and emotions in a gentle, non-judgmental way. This approach is closely aligned with the work of Ann Weiser Cornell, who built upon Eugene Gendlin's Focusing technique, incorporating the idea of "being in presence."

From a somatic coaching perspective, **In-Presence Focusing** involves:

1. **Attuning to the body**: The coach helps the client become aware of and tune into their bodily sensations, paying attention to subtle feelings, tensions, or movements within the body. The body is seen as holding important information, often related to unresolved emotions or experiences.

2. **Presence as a compassionate witness**: The "in-presence" aspect refers to cultivating a state of compassionate self-awareness, where the client observes their internal experience without becoming overwhelmed by it. This means that even difficult emotions or sensations are met with curiosity and care, rather than resistance or judgment.

3. **Somatic awareness and self-inquiry**: The coach guides the client to interact with their bodily felt sense in a way that deepens understanding and fosters healing. By staying present with what arises in the body, clients can access deeper layers of unconscious or repressed emotions, and work through them in a grounded, embodied way.

4. **Facilitating change from within**: In-presence focusing allows the client to access their own innate wisdom for healing. As they stay with their body’s messages, new insights or shifts can naturally emerge. This process can lead to physical relaxation, emotional release, or greater clarity, allowing the client to move forward with more ease and alignment.

In somatic coaching, **In-Presence Focusing** is used to help clients connect with their body’s wisdom, transform stuck patterns, and develop a more integrated, embodied sense of self. It is an approach that empowers clients to work through challenges in a gentle, respectful manner by staying grounded in the present moment and their bodily experience.
